1. Stall
Using sow gestation stalls can effectively save floor space, maximizing the utilization of limited building area, while also making it easier to manage pregnant sows. The stalls are welded from hot-dip galvanized steel pipes, which are sturdy, durable, corrosion-resistant, and easy to clean. Gestation stalls are widely accepted by most pig farms for their ability to enable fixed-time and fixed-quantity feeding, small space occupation, and convenient management. However, due to long-term improper breeding, the maternal instinct of imported pig breeds has decreased, and they are likely to crush piglets during movement. To reduce the risk of sows crushing piglets, most pig farms now adopt gestation stalls to restrict sows’ movement. While this reduces the chance of piglet crushing, it also lowers the survival rate of piglets due to insufficient exercise and poor maternal instinct in sows. The gestation stalls use hot-dip galvanized pipes with a thickness of 2.2mm and a diameter of 25mm; they can also be customized with national standard 2.5mm hot-dip galvanized pipes. Each set consists of 11 panels, accommodating 10 sows. The specifications of the stall are 2100mm * 1000mm * 600mm.
Specifications and Parameters of Gestation Stalls: 1. Cage Frame: Outer covering of Φ20 hot-dip galvanized pipe, plus 1 horizontal Φ20 hot-dip galvanized pipe (as reinforcement); the rest are Φ15 hot-dip galvanized pipes, all with a wall thickness of 2.5 mm. 2. Front & Rear Doors: Dimensions: 500 mm*600 mm, 550 mm*600 mm. Material: Φ15 hot-dip galvanized pipe; door latches and bolts are made of hot-dip galvanized steel. 3. Pull Rods: 2 full-length Φ15 hot-dip galvanized pull rods; 1 full-length Φ20 hot-dip galvanized pull rod (also serving as a water pipe). 4. Water Pipe Installation: The above Φ20 hot-dip galvanized pull rod doubles as a water pipe. Each 2 stalls use 1 520 mm-long Φ15 hot-dip galvanized tee joint; 2 stainless steel drinkers are installed at the bottom via tee joints. 1 Φ15 water nozzle is installed every 10 m. Other materials include those for water pipe installation inside the pig house. 5. Slatted Floors: 600 mm*600 mm*30 mm cast iron slatted floors; 650 mm*600 mm*30 mm cast iron slatted floors. Each slatted floor weighs over 15 kg. 6. Slatted Floor Supports: Full-length 40 mm*40 mm hot-dip galvanized angle iron, with a wall thickness of 4 mm. 7. Misting Cooling System: Full-length Φ20 hot-dip galvanized pipe; 1 copper nozzle is installed for every 3 stalls.
Daily Installation Method for Gestation Stalls: 1. First, set the width of the aisle. Place the side feet at both ends of the unit, mark the positioning line, and check that the distance between the side feet on both sides is equal. Ensure the structure is straight and free of slopes. 2. Next, place the middle feet in alignment with the side feet. The distance between the side feet and middle feet should match the width of the floor panels, and the distance between adjacent feet should match the length of the floor panels. 3. Install the floor panels between the side feet and middle feet in sequence, and make sure to tighten all screws securely. 4. At this point, check whether the left and right stalls are installed reversely, and confirm that the entire structure is level and plumb. 5. Finally, install the front and rear doors of the gestation stalls.
Advantages of Sow Gestation Stalls: 1. Saves floor space, increases the number of breeding animals per unit area, and is suitable for intensive farming. 2. Facilitates feeding management, feeding, and manure cleaning, reducing the labor intensity of workers. 3. Simplifies record-keeping: Sows in fixed stalls are easily visible, making it less likely to make mistakes when using record tags. 4. Prevents sow fights, reducing the miscarriage rate.
Gao Pei Gestation Stalls: The dimensions are the same as standard sow gestation stalls, but it is movable. The key difference is an arched lifting frame added in the middle of the stall. After moving a young sow into the stall, the lifting frame is fixed above the sow’s back, and a wooden stick is inserted under the sow’s buttocks to prevent backward movement. Then, a boar is introduced for mating. No matter how large the boar is, it will not crush the sow. It can be operated by one person, and this method also solves issues such as sow foot pain, sow movement, and sows lying on their sides during boar mating.
2. Farrowing crate
It consists of a sow positioning frame, piglet enclosure, piglet incubator, slatted floor, sow trough, and piglet supplementary feeding trough. The sow positioning frame is used to control the sow's free movement area and lying posture. There are barriers between the positioning frames of the farrowing crate to prevent sows from crushing, stepping on, or pressing piglets. A curved retaining post is welded on the bottommost rail of the positioning frame to protect piglets from being crushed or stepped on. The sow trough and waterer are located in front of the positioning frame. The frame is assembled from hot-dip galvanized steel pipes, making it solid, durable, anti-aging, and corrosion-resistant.
Advantages of Use: 1. A clean and hygienic farrowing environment helps sows recover quickly after giving birth, allowing them to fully exert their production potential. 2. Facilitates the management of both sows and piglets. 3. Protects piglets from being crushed by sows. 4. Provides good sanitary conditions, preventing the accumulation of excrement and the propagation of viruses, thus reducing piglet diseases. 5. Creates a healthy, comfortable environment and safe activity space for piglets. 6. Reduces breeders’ physical and financial investment, increasing economic income. 7. Improves the survival rate of piglets.
Advantages of the Facility: 1. Support Beams & Bed Surface of the Farrowing Crate: The support beams of the farrowing crate are made of ductile iron or form the bed surface. For the bed surface, the area for sows uses ductile iron plates or steel wire mesh floor panels, while the area for piglets uses plastic slatted plates—this design largely meets the growth needs of both sows and piglets. 2. Bed Frame: The bed frame is assembled with hot-dip galvanized pipes, making it solid, durable, anti-aging, and corrosion-resistant. 3. Bed Accessories: The bed adopts a detachable structure for easy assembly. It is equipped with piglet incubators, heaters, waterers for sows, and waterers for piglets. Sows use ductile iron feed troughs, and piglets use ductile iron circular supplementary feed troughs—all supported by ductile iron crossbeams at the bottom.
3. Piglets nursery deck
Features of Nursery Bed Equipment: It is used during piglet rearing. Piglet manure falls into the manure pit through the slatted floor, avoiding diseases caused by manure contamination in the herd and improving the survival rate. Advantages of Nursery Bed Performance: It is used for piglet rearing after weaning. It includes the required pen components: surrounding enclosures, and a plastic manure leakage board at the bottom (which has good thermal insulation and is non-slip for piglets), supported by flat steel at the bottom. It is equipped with a double-sided 6-hole piglet feed trough and waterers. The bed bottom and bed frame are connected and assembled with screws, and the pen panels are connected with bolts, making assembly convenient.
4. Piglets Incubator
Introduction to Piglet Incubator: This is a warming device for piglets, providing heat retention for piglets from birth until they are weaned (around one month old and ready to leave the pen). It replaces traditional methods like using dry grass or heating stoves. Through scientific design, the incubator has a top cover with a reserved space for a bulb and an observation window; its dimensions are determined based on local conditions. A common specification is 1.05M × 0.65M × 0.65M. The incubator body also features an access door for piglets. Features of Piglet Incubator: Made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP), it is lightweight yet high-strength. It allows easy temperature adjustment, has strong corrosion resistance, and can be used for over 20 years even in humid conditions. It has low thermal conductivity and excellent heat retention, is non-toxic and pollution-free, safe and reliable, and can significantly improve the survival rate of piglets.
